House Joint Resolution 1407 has been submitted in Florida, which would create a ballot measure for medical marijuana in the state of Florida. Marijuana, also known as cannabis should be decriminalized for medical use. There’s simply no sound, consistent argument against it.
Some more common myths surrounding the plant include the claim that cannabis is dangerous. Cannabis causes less harm to the user than tobacco, however, and in recorded medical history, there’s been no record of an overdose. Studies show no increased risk of cancer to non-users of tobacco smoking marijuana. Combusting a plant or chemical into one’s lungs almost always has negative effects, of course. Patients concerned about these effects can use a vaporizer or ingestion to administer cannabis.
Marijuana is not a gateway drug, studies show, contrary to the common myth. In fact, for many it’s actually an exit drug, helping to relieve the side effects and withdraw from addictive drugs, and as a step down from other harmful drugs.
